Polk County LPIA State Convention Report

Several members of the Libertarian Party residing in Polk County participated in the LPIA State Convention over the weekend of March 24th. The keynote speaker was Larry Sharpe, former Vice-Presidential candidate, he focused on positive messaging and candidate organization during his speech and subsequent workshop.

County participation included outgoing District 3 Representative Joshua Herbert, he gave his report via video, focusing on affiliate building. Polk County thanks Joshua for representing our district over the past two years. As well, Joseph Howe led the proposed Bylaws and Constitution working session and presentation, with the voting body approving changes largely related to Major Party status.

Several Polk County Libertarians were elected to the incoming State Central Committee (SCC). Those included:

Jules Ofenbakh – At Large Representative

Mark Anderson – District 3 Representative

Jocelyn Fry – District 3 Alternate Representative

Joseph Howe – State Secretary

Joshua Herbert – Judicial Committee

As well, Joe Gleason, Polk County Chair, was appointed SCC Deputy Treasurer by James Schneider, State Central Committee Chair and confirmed by unanimous vote of the SCC following the convention.

Polk County Libertarians are excited to have representation on the State Central Committee and the representatives look forward to continuing to build and organize the party over their two year term.
