Libertarians Set Caucus for February 5, 2018

The Libertarian Party of Iowa has set February 5, 2018, as the date for party caucuses. Details have not been finalized, but in Polk County we are planning on having a super site with all precincts meeting at the same location. We encourage all Libertarians in the county to come and participate.

The caucus is held to conduct business related to selecting Libertarian candidates for state and federal offices and to electing members of the party leadership. Anyone who has attended a caucus of the older political parties in years when a presidential candidate was not selected, knows the caucus is a low-key event. Yet, it is very important in shaping the direction of the party and for encouraging participation.

Retaining political party status is the top priority of the Libertarians in Iowa. That means our gubernatorial candidate must receive at least 2% of the vote in November 2018. We need your help to make that happen.

The Libertarian Party in Polk County is growing, but we are still small. We do not have a candidate to run in many Iowa House and Senate districts. Candidates that have announced will be at the caucus. We also expect some statewide candidates who live in Polk County to be present. We invite you to come meet the candidates and learn how you can help the party grow by helping their campaigns.

We will provide more information in the next few weeks. We hope to see you at the caucus and to hear what being a Libertarian means to you.
