LEGISLATIVE ALERT-IMMEDIATE ACTION NEEDED
A restrictive ballot access bill passed the Senate on April 17th. Call your state representative today and tell him or her to vote No on HF692 as amended by the Senate. This bill, if it becomes law, will add significant challenges to and distractions from regaining major party status. Our candidates will need to file for office early in the year without opportunity for later additions, unlike the Republicans and Democrats. It would also more than double the signatures needed for our statewide candidates, from 1500 to 4000. For updates, visit the LPIA Facebook page.
UPCOMING EVENTS of the POLK COUNTY LIBERTARIANS
We invite you to join us and to learn more about the Polk County Libertarians at our monthly business meetings. We will meet on Sunday, April 28, 12:00-4:00 pm at Café Diem, 2005 S. Ankeny Blvd., Ankeny.
Our April Let’s Talk Liberty gathering was an informative and motivational look at the Polk County budget. Our May gathering is now being planned. It will be held at Smokey Row, 1910 Cottage Grove, in Des Moines.
2019 MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS
Polk County Libertarians are looking for Libertarians who are considering runs for school boards, city councils, hospital boards, and other local elected positions. We can also use volunteers and donors to help us promote our party and our candidates. Reach out to us by email, Facebook, or by attending one of our meetings/events. We would like to meet up with you.
We send out two emails a month, and an occasional extra email, to help keep voters and activists informed. We invite you to sign up and learn more about the Polk County Libertarian Party of Iowa.
