2019 MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS

See below for dates and locations of forums where you can meet the candidates for Des Moines City Council and Mayor. These are non-partisan offices, meaning that party affiliation is not listed on the ballot. But we want people to know there are three registered Libertarians seeking local office in Des Moines on November 5, 2019.

We encourage you to learn about Chase Holm for mayor, Marco Battaglia for at-large city council, and Toya Johnson for Ward 4 city council. We then ask you to vote for these three candidates on November 5th. Early voting is now underway. The last day to request an absentee ballot is October 25.

Let’s Talk Liberty is an informal gathering and discussion. Our  November gathering is being planned. It is tentatively set for Saturday, November 9, 2019, in the afternoon. Location and topic are not yet set.

Candidates running under the designation of Libertarian for state offices must file their nominating papers by March 13, 2020, far earlier than in prior years.
